Edward Vick

Welcome to the Vick Foundation Web Site

In 2008, the Vick Prize will be awarded for the fifth consecutive time. It is indeed a reason to celebrate. The idea of a Best Bulgarian Novel has received strong support from the media, the general public and all Bulgarian writers. Without your enthusiasm, the Vick Prize would not have come so far.

And the translated Bulgarian novel is also receiving more attention. A combination of translators, publishers, political will, filmmakers, writers and the general public make it possible for more readers to gain insight into Bulgarian literature.

We would like to thank the jury members for their effort and committee members for their contributions. I wish all participants this year good luck and look forward to the unveiling of the winner this year and reading the winning book in English.

Edward Vick

The Vick Prize for novel represents the very best of Bulgarian contemporary works in the genre.

Each year a competent jury selects a short list of six Bulgarian novels from which the winner is chosen.

The winning author receives a cash award with the option of a translation of the book into English.

This initiative is already changing the Bulgarian novel. With your interest, help to change its future!

The competition is organised with the support of
